Today we explored Jerusalem. Our first station was the Mount of Olives, while walking we past by several biblical sites, like Mary's Tomb. On top of the Mount of Olives we had a great view on the Old City of Jerusalem. Most impressing was the glistening of the Dome of the Rock in the rising sun. Back in the city we strolled trough the narrow streets. In order to escape the midday heat we went back to our hostel. There we enjoyed our picnic of fruits, humus and pitas. Afterwards we walked the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchure. Despite it was Sabbath the arab district were lively and colorful, as opposed to the jewish district.
In the evening we met a founder member of "Breaking the Silence". It is an organisation of fromer soldiers of the IDF and was founded in 2004. Their goal is to show the true picture of the military actions conducted by the IDF to the israeli public via soldier's testimonies.
